Giyu and Shinobu show up at Mount Natagumo and split up to make more progress. Tanjiro and Inosuke's cutting edges don't hurt Father because of his harder skin. Not having any desire to feel frail, Inosuke chooses to deal with Father directly and prevails with regards to removing a hand. Tanjiro fights Rui however is overpowered by his steel-like strings and is constrained on edge. Rui, rankled by his words and Tanjiro declining to withdraw, takes steps to kill him gradually. Inosuke observes Father has shed his skin and developed further. Overwhelmed, Inosuke is seriously injured and his blades break as he attempts to cut Father's neck. Snatched by the head, he is gradually squashed when Giyu shows up and salvages him. At the point when Father fights back, the Hashira kills him immediately. Tanjiro attempts a front facing assault yet his sword is cut by an approaching string.
